Climate Inovation

About us

We frequently work to overcome the limits of traditional energy and to bring to Romania and not only, the benefit of reducing carbon emissions generated by electricity production and ensuring the continuity of electricity supply. We guarantee the implementation of the latest and most efficient technologies, confirming and even exceeding the expectations regarding a clean, healthy environment and a “green” future.

Although difficult to perceive the impact on daily activities, climate change is today the greatest systemic threat to human civilization, according to the United Nations, and pollution, along with global warming, greenhouse gases and heat waves will produce unprecedented environmental effects.

We are witnessing torrential rains and other extreme and frequent meteorological phenomena. As a result of this situation, floods occur and water quality decreases, and water resources become increasingly precarious in some regions.

Energy use is the main pollutant globally: CO emissions generated by energy production reached a record high of 32.5 gigatons in 2017.

Vision

We aim to attain the independence and resilience of the Romanian energy network system, with low impact on the environment.

We believe in technology that creates and gives people the freedom to enjoy clean nature, significant connections and follow their passions they have or can develop.

Our objectives

Our overall goal is to reduce carbon emissions from electricity generation and security of electricity supply by investing in:

use of renewable energy sources (RES)
increasing energy efficiency (EE) in the public and private sectors
research and development in the energy field
improving energy skills in the public and private sectors
awareness of the benefits of RES and EE

The European Commission’s key objectives in the field of energy and climate change, for the period 2020-2030 are the following:

  • EU minimum target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% from 1990 levels;
  • reaching a mandatory minimum level at EU level of 27% for the share of energy from renewable sources in total energy consumption, to be achieved through appropriate commitments / contributions of member states;
  • the indicative target of at least 27% at EU level, by 2020 with the possibility of being increased to 30% by 2030.

According to Eurostat, the cost of producing electricity from wind and solar photovoltaic farms is now comparable to the cost of fossil fuels.

The electricity generation sector uses the indicator of total equalized energy production costs to calculate the cost of this production through various renewable and non-renewable technologies. This represents the cost per MWh of the construction and operation of an electricity generation installation over an estimated financial period.

In 2017, the cost of electricity produced from renewable sources was often comparable to the cost of fossil fuels. The total globalized equal costs of energy production for wind farms have already been in the range of fossil fuel costs for several years. More recently, the total equalized energy production costs of solar photovoltaic installations have also fallen to comparable levels due to the 81% reduction in the cost of panels and other elements of these installations from the end of 2009 to the present.
